EXCELLENT SERVICE 

Ian was recommended via friends and I am so impressed with how my clarinet now looks and sounds following a full service. Ian was accommodating around my timeframe and went the extra mile. He listened to all my concerns, answered all my questions and even helped identify the age of my instrument after I had brought it home following a conversation when I collected. My clarinet sounds 100x better and it looks brand new. I will definitely be bringing it back to Ian in the future.

My clarinet had not been serviced for 5 years and was playing really badly, and was very very hard to play. Even after playing for 40 years I was convinced it was me! I trawled through the internet, I found nobody suitable in Wales.... So I searched further afield. I was drawn to Ian's website because it is professional, and I liked the fact that he has relevant qualifications and is a member of NAMIR.
I used the online enquiry tool on his website and within a day he had phoned me. He gave clear instructions of how to organise a courier which was so easy.
My clarinet has returned and it now plays beautifully. Very quick turnaround time. Very pleased.

TOP CLASS WOODWIND REPAIR TECHNICIAN 

I called Ian about my Tenor saxophone and the issues I was having and he recommended a service. Despite him having just moved house he was happy for me to send my sax to him and he turned it around very promptly. All the issues are now fixed and it plays beautifully. Ian kept me updated whilst the work was being done. I have used a few repair technicians over the years and Ian is without doubt the best I have found. I highly recommend him.

A True Craftsman!

Ian is a true expert on wind instruments and extremely pleasant to work with.

I took a much loved and somewhat vintage Alto Sax to him for a service - he did a full strip, rebuild and rebalance with an extensive repad for a very reasonable price. If you have not had a sax serviced before, you might be shocked at how expensive it is but Ian's work was first class and less than you might expect to pay elsewhere. Parts are expensive and it is a labour intensive job.

After the service, the sax plays like new - all the slop is gone from the keys and the tone is improved. I guess that the pads were worse than I thought.

I also learned a good deal from him about saxophones and clarinets. This is a man that clearly loves his work and is passionate about instrument repair.

CLARINET OVERHAUL 

Ian is a consummate professional. He has a comprehensive working and practical knowledge of the clarinet. The overhaul done on my clarinet was exceptional, it feels like a new instrument. Peter 

GOOD OVERHAUL  JOB

Ian did a very good overhaul job on my clarinet recently and a charged a very reasonable price for this. The instrument plays better than it has done in years, all thanks to his excellent work. I would recommend him to all. If travelling to his address is an issue, it is worth sending your instrument by a courier. It worked well for me.

EXCELLENT SERVICE 

Ian was very informative and knowledgeable, he let me decide what level of service I required and wholly explained the difference. The saxophone was cleaned, serviced, repaired and necessary pads replaced, along with some additional repairs to the body work.

CLARINET REPAIR AND SERVICE 

Ian was both very professional and incredibly knowledgeable when it came to repairing and servicing my son’s clarinet. He gave me a clear and detailed explanation of the work that needed doing, and was even kind enough to lend one of his own clarinets to my son while he completed the service. Couldn’t recommend him highly enough.

VERY HAPPY WITH MY ALTO SAX SERVICE 

Ian did a really great job servicing my alto sax. When I took it in it played OK, but with a couple of niggles. On collection I would say its almost transformed. The low notes I previously really had to concentrate on have now become as easy as any other well set up sax. The action is smoother and lighter. Its tonally more even up and down the register. A very reasonable amount of money really well spent as far as I am concerned. I can thoroughly recommend Ian for woodwind servicing/repairs.

I have been impressed with Ian's expertise, value for money, and kind and patient nature for a few years now. Recently I took my tenor, alto, clarinet, and flute to him for various extensive and smaller jobs to be done and he turned them all round within less than a week and for a fraction of the cost compared to a London repairer but in no way subsidized in materials, care, or effort. Ian really is incredibly experienced and we talked at great lengths about the differences between skin-pads and leather pads on clarinets, what may seem unimportant was actually an incredibly important aspect of tonal colour, resistance, and durability and something I'm sure I would not have considered unless Ian brought it up! I highly recommend Ian to anyone of any woodwind instrument. Thank you Ian!

VERY IMPRESSED!

Ian contacted me very shortly after my initial email, and fitted me in the same day. Ian is very friendly and serviced my saxophone while I waited, explaining what he was doing as he did so.  It was obvious he has a deep understanding and love of woodwind instruments, no doubt aided by being a musician and a teacher. My sax now blows beautifully and I have no hesitation in recommending Ian. Thankyou!

Plays better than a new clarinet.

I’ve just picked up my A clarinet after a full overhaul and it plays better now than when it was new! Ian provides an outstanding service. I would fully recommend, as a professional it is such a relief to know that my instrument is in such excellent hands when Ian is working on it.

Saved my horn!

Ian did a wonderful job on my Unison alto sax! There was a bit of damage to the posts and he sorted it all out and made the horn play like new. Feels wonderful and easy to play. Thank you Ian!

Enjoying practicing again!

Thank you for servicing my clarinet. I played it briefly after I got home. It’s astounding! I want to keep practicing more and more.  In the evening I practiced much more. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I still have to build my stamina again, to keep up, I had been trying to learn to play the saxophone while I didn’t have the clarinet. My clarinet is like new, it was difficult to believe it was the same instrument I dropped off with you last week. It is so responsive, it’s so much easier to play, playing smoothly and with exact predictability. I’d also like to thank you for removing the calculus from the mouthpiece. I’d been struggling to clean it for ages, in fact, since I spoke to you about it many months ago. You’ve even removed the calculus from the area around the tooth protector above the mouthpiece.

I’m so happy with what you’ve achieved, I’ll be recommending you to my friends to have their woodwinds serviced too.A very happy music pupil and busker, who’s learned not to: “…let it rain on my parade!”

Pocket friendly!

Ian is a lovely person and very pocket friendly service done on my son's flute. He was quick to adjust the flute repair amidst his busy schedule on Saturday. I am absolutely pleased with the work he has done. He also gave us some suggestions and advice on how to take care of the instrument. Excellent services from an excellent man. He himself is a clarinet player so no better person than him. We would be going to only him in future whenever required.
